Hello Everyone!
So we are officially into Fall! This means it is time for the leaves to change color and time for you to break out your cute fall coats & boots!
While I do love fall (mostly because I have a zillion pairs of boots that I am excited to wear) I also am more or less Allergic to Earth itself this time of year. Fun – I know.
Growing up with terrible allergies I have tried almost everything anyone has ever thought of to tame allergies without much luck. However over the past few years I think I actually found a way to help control them! It has been a slow process to weed through all the rif-raf that it out there, but last year was the first year I FINALLY got a grip on the whole allergy thing. (about time!) Now I’m not a doctor, nor am I suggesting that what I do will work for everyone (or that it should replace your allergy medication). This is simply me sharing what has worked for me through the past two allergy seasons (I have the wonderful pleasure of having terrible Spring allergies as well).
All of the products that I have found that work on me tend to be categorized as “alternative” because they all deal with essential oils. I was skeptical at first – but then I tried them I was shocked at the results.
So without further ado I have three items I am sharing with you today.
The first is a product called “Breath Again” by Young Living. It’s an essential oil blend that is in the form of a roll-on. Let me tell you – This baby will Open You Up when you feel like you will never be able to smell again! (at least it does for me) All you have to do is roll a little bit around your nose or on your neck & chest. I do this every night during allergy season (and if I need to throughout the day).
Next in line :) We have “Volcano Oil”! I have been using Volcano Oil since High School. I used to get Migraines like no ones business and Volcano Oil was one of the ONLY things that would help. It still remains to be one of the only things that helps me. Usually during Allergy Season my headaches progressively get worse so I literally will carry Volcano Oil around in my purse. This is another essential oil blend from a Hawaii Based company called Maui Excellent.
All I do is roll the Volcano Oil on my temples (and I rub it in sometimes) it feels like a wonderful blend of warm and cold. This almost reminds me of icy hot – but it’s WAY better (plus I don’t think your supposed to put Icy Hot on your face – I could be wrong though).
Both of these Roll-On’s will make you smell like the essential oils that are in them (…that only makes sense…). So if you absolutely do not like the smell of essential oils then this is not for you. However, these work like a CHARM on me!
Now the last product I have is another essential oil blend, except this is just a bottle of the essential oil blend. It is Called “Theives” by Young Living. In previous years I would end up sick a lot during allergy season, almost every year of my life. Last year was the first year I made it though the season without getting sick (shocked me!). I *think* it had something to do with this oil.
Theives was rumored to have been created by four theives during the plague in Europe. They would use it so that when they were stealing from victims of the plague they would not get sick. I know this isn’t the best story to explain the creation of a product – but you have to admit it is interesting.
I would put a couple drops of this on the bottom of my feet every morning (and rub them together to help rub it in). I realize that your probably thinking – ok that’s weird – but it actually worked for me. I did not get sick at all during last fall or this past spring and the only thing I was doing different from other years was using this oil.
So that is how I was able to survive allergy season this past year – and it is how I intend to survive it this year! Again I am not a doctor, nor am I suggesting these products will work for everyone (or that they should replace your allergy medicine). All I am doing is trying to pass along some information I wish I would have discovered YEARS ago (back when I was on my great ‘defeat allergy’ quest).
Hopefully this helps some of you out!

This post came at the most perfect time! My allergies went nuts yesterday. I seriously had to spend half the day in bed. Thanks for these suggestions, I’m definitely going to try! (PS. Your doggy is so cute!)
