Hello Everyone!
Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!
I have another great way to save you money – Do your own nails. Now I’m not one to go to the nail salon a lot (to be honest I only go if it was a gift or something like that because it is a luxury that my family just cannot afford). I do LOVE going and I do see the appeal to go often – but is it really worth the money? For me – when it is coming out of my family’s budget the answer is no.
When I do go to get my nails done it costs me a minimum of $20 (not including tip). If I were to do this every 2 weeks or so (my manicure’s never last that long – and I’m not a fan of the shellac that is out there now – I used it once and it ruined my nails) it would cost me $520 a year (again not including the tip). But even if I were to go once a month it would still cost me a decent amount ($240 a year). Which is why I only go if I was given a gift card or it was done as a gift for a spa outing – something like that.
Obviously I save money by not going to get my nails done – but I understand that some LOVE to get them done and absolutely see a need to have this put into their budget. However if you are one of the people who do get their nails done just keep in mind that if you were to forgo the salon (maybe even every other time you normally would go) you could about $20 a time (plus whatever you tip). That means if you skip the salon just 3 times a year and do your nails yourself you will save at least $60 in the manicures alone – plus whatever you would normally tip. So let’s low-ball and say you save $70 a year by doing your own nails at home.
Also if you really are in a pinch for nail polish you can sign up for a free maven Julep Box (you just pay shipping which was like $2.99) and you will receive some quality nail polishes (and other items – depends on the promotional box that month). Keep in mind it will sign you up for an auto re-new for a subscription but that can be put on hold or cancelled at any time. You can see the box of products I received for just the Shipping price here.
