Hello everyone!
I have two great ways to share with you on how to save Over $50 throughout the year! I explain them both in this Video
Of course my pups didn’t make it easy to film that myself – but I managed.
Jumping right in!
#5 Shop at a Farmers Market
Each farmers market is different – some are stupidly high priced while others are dirt cheap. Obviously shop at the dirt cheap ones! :) This is a savings post after all!
Here is a quick comparison of Prices: Watermelons (including the seedless watermelons) at a farmers market are $2.98 each and WYB 2 you get a 3rd free! While at a local store just one is $4.99
The corn I have pictured on my counter (71 in total I believe) I paid ONLY $3.98 for. While at the store they are $2.99 for 6 of them. (this was the sweet corn!)
As you can see there is a bit of a price discrepancy! So you can eaisly save $50 by shopping at a Farmers Market.
For the record I freeze my corn so I can eat it throughout the winter (I’ll post on how to do this in the near future!)
This is a picture of my wonderful sister guarding my two carts while I ran around the market snapping pictures for this post!
My family’s weekly budget for EVERYTHING (household cleaners, toilet paper, toiletries and food) is $65 a week and I was able to get ALL of this food for $68.00. It did eat up my budget for the week (and then $3) but that is why I stockpile the household items!
#6: Canning!
So I love to Can! I’m sure some of you gathered that from my We be Jammin’ Post on how to make Jam! But it really does save my family a ton of money! We Can anything that we think we will use a lot of over the winter.
We make our own Jam, Apple Sauce, Spaghetti Sauce and Pickels! This allows us to get the food at LOW prices when they are in season and save them for the entire winter! All those tomatoes in the first cart are now Spaghetti Sauce!
Saved with both of these methods: $100
Total Saved: $418

[…] Of course you will also need the actual food to make into baby food. This is where you can save so much money – but you have to buy the food right. For items like sweet potatoes and the like – which don’t perish as quickly as others – it is better to buy those when they are on sale and hold onto for a week or so rather than just buying all the items you need when they are full price in prime season. Other items like fruits that perish much faster you will need to buy closer to your actual ‘baby food making day.’ A great place for cheaper fruits and veggies could potentially be your local farmers market.
