Hello Everyone!
Today I wanted to share with you the best little invention ever for potty training.
This is the Dog Doorbell – Potty training is hard in and of itself (both of my pups struggled with it). I have what I call the wee wee grass for when they are home alone – but when I’m home I don’t want them to use the wee wee grass. So what I did originally was take old jungle bells from a Christmas decoration and hang them on the door so that I could start to train them to ring the bells when they wanted out.
Not only was this a horribly un-seasonal item to have out year round – my pups treated it like a toy they could pull on and never quite understood the ‘ring it to get outside’ concept.
Then I was able to try the Dog doorbell. I was so happy to try it because it would be perfectly acceptable to have out year round (unlike my jungle bells with holly attached I had used previously).
We attached it to the bottom of our sliding door – and we started to train – every time we were going outside we would grab the pups and lift up their paw and have them ‘ring’ the bell.
At first they were apprehensive (and Cici was actually scared at first) but after about two weeks they started to get the hang of it. Now they know whenever they want to go Potty Outside to ring the bell.
This bell is small enough to not be in the way but cute enough to not worry about hiding it somehow. If you are trying to train your pup to go outside I would Highly recommend using this bell to do so. It helped us greatly with having them let us know when they need out (rather than having them just cry at us).
