Hello everyone! I am a huge fan of Organic products and I always try to buy an organic product if I can. There are many good reasons to buy Organic. I know I started buying organic food to get away from all of the preservatives in non-organic food. I’m neither a doctor nor a scientist, but I did a lot of research on the subject (thank you google!) and I did not like what I found about GMO’s and preservatives that are put in food. This started a very large switch over to organic food for me. Not to mention I think it taste SO MUCH better!
The only problem is that it is so darn expensive and after my wedding I was on a SUPER tight budget. Like I have said before it was ‘squeezing yourself into skinny jeans’ tight!
This presented my family with a fairly large problem. How can we afford to buy the organic food? The answer for me was to coupon. A surprising amount of coupons for organic products exist, you just have to be creative with where to find them!
You can check the companies website and see if there are any coupons there. I know that Driscoll’s has coupons available a lot of the time. I also started finding the company’s on facebook because often times there are promotional coupons to be found on a company’s facebook page (like this So Delicious Coupon). There is also just the basic coupons.com site that will have coupons for products like Kashi.
The biggest one I found was Mambo Sprouts, often times they offer to sign up for a book of coupons to be sent to your house (I always get excited when I receive mine).
Even Amazon has coupons on Organic products from time to time (like plum organics or similar items). If you know that you will be purchasing a lot of an item you might even be offered a discount if you subscribe.
There are still ways to afford the Organic products even if they don’t have a coupon, because there are not always coupons available. What then? How can you afford to buy the higher priced Organic food and products without a coupon?
The first suggestion I have is to coupon for the other items on your list that are not Organic. For instance laundry detergent, cleaners, trash bags, diapers and even toothpaste (if you are paying more then $1.50 for any kind of oral care item you are paying to much). This will lower your bill and hopefully allow for the Organic product to fit into your budget for the week.
Another suggestion I have, if you want to go extreme on me, is find a literal “MONEY MAKER” at a store that will pay you an overage and buy A LOT of it. Keep in mind you can always donate any excess products you have. You can then use that overage to pay for the more expensive Organic Product. This can be done at the same store or you can take the overage that was paid to you and buy the item at a different location.
Also if you have been following my Apps That Pay You series you might have noticed that apps like Savingstar, Checkout51 and Ibotta often times have offers on general food items. For instance $0.50 rebate on any gallon of milk purchase or 20% back on a fruit or vegetable purchase. Some of these rebates can be used toward ANY brand and I will almost always use this on an organic product!
There is also a rebate app ONLY for Organic food called BerryCart – Read how to use the app here!
Here are a few places to find organic food coupons that I have discovered:
If you know of any other sites please leave a comment and I will update my list to include it!
[…] This is like Snap, Ibotta and Checkout51 except its ONLY for Healthy Food! It’s wonderful! There are a TON of offers for Organic, Vegan, Non-GMO, Gluten Free – you get the idea! This is a great way to lower the cost of Organic food. […]
