Walmart Beauty Box Unboxing

June 16, 2016 by comesaveaway@gmail.com

IMG_1568a

Hello Everyone!

Today I have an unboxing of the Walmart Beauty Box for Spring.  I’m not going to lie – I thought this month was a complete flop.  The products that I did receive in the box are nice – but I thought the box was below what I expect.  Usually a full size product is included in this box or at least a coupon to go and get a free full size product.  There was just a bunch of little samples – some of which are just useless for me.

Optic White Tooth Paste:  I have A TON of this stuff – many drug stores have sales that can result in getting a full size bottle for free after rewards and coupons.  As a result I have a stock pile of it already.  The travel size is always nice to have.

Curel Itch Defense Body Wash:  After trying this I do like it a lot – It smells nice and leaves you feeling clean.  The itch defense does help a little bit – coming into my allergy season I do end up getting itchy at times especially if I’m outside a lot during the day or have a window open.

Jergins Natural Glow:  This is a nice lotion but it does leave you feeling a little on the greasy side (if you watch my video you will see the little bit of struggle I have after using it).

Burts Bees BB Cream: this was such a small sample I didn’t really get a good idea with how it would be.  It was a little to dark for me too – that didn’t help.

CerVe:  I like this a lot.  I’ve used it before so I knew I wold like this.  It is a great moisturizer and helps me out a lot during the winter when my hands get super dry.

Brilliant Brunette:  This isn’t something that I would go out and get myself but I have tried the Blond version of this shampoo and I do like the Blond Version.  I haven’t tried that particular shampoo in over a year though so I don’t know if they changed anything to it.  When I did use it my hair felt moisturized and soft.

Biore:  I like this face wash – I’ve used it before (not currently) but I do have some of it in my stock pile.  It smells nice and it does clean your face well.  I still had to use a makeup remover before I would wash my face just to make sure to get all of the makeup off.

Overall I was not impressed with this box.  I’ve had nice boxes from them before but I was disappointed with not receiving at least one full size product.

You can watch my unboxing video here You will see exactly what I’m talking about with the lotion! Be sure to subscribe to my channel

Groupon has Coupons?!

April 17, 2016 by comesaveaway@gmail.com

IMG_8283

This is a sponsored post but as always all opinions are my own.

Hello Everyone,

Apparently I’ve been living in my baby/prep new-mama bubble for too long because Groupon has Coupons! How did I miss this?

As many of you know I’m a BIG fan of using coupons and saving money (kind of what started me blogging in the first place).  So I wanted to share with you something that I had no idea even existed until about a week ago.  The Groupon Coupons feature.  This works in conjunction with the Snap App so you can search for deals or coupons within the app while you are out (which you should definitely do).

There are over 70,000 coupons for over 9,000 stores which can be overwhelming if you are just browsing.  However Groupon makes it’s easy – if you are looking for a specific store you can simply search for the store within the coupons tab.  If you want to browse for makeup deals, or baby deals, you can simply search through the category.  I love this feature.  That way if I’m specifically looking for makeup coupons – I don’t have to sift through travel or toy coupons to find them – I can simply go to that category and look from there.

Just this morning I was looking at the Target coupons and there were 78 coupons available! These obviously change as they expire and new ones are added so the number of coupons available at any given time may change but as an avid extreme couponer this is impressive! The great part is that this feature works great for everyone plus the variety of coupons out there cover so many types of categories.

Here are just *some* of the stores you can find – and as you can see there is something for everyone!

Birchbox

Carter’s

Travelocity

Dell

That’s just to name a few! This is a great way to save some extra money and it certainly doesn’t hurt to look at this feature before you go shopping at a store! Plus a great way to always stay up on deals is to follow Groupon on twitter and facebook.  That’s how I have found some random (but awesome) deals.

Walmart Winter Beauty Box!

January 27, 2016 by comesaveaway@gmail.com

wbb16

Hello Everyone!

If you watch my YouTube Channel you probably know that I receive the Walmart Beauty Box.  For those of you who don’t know what it is it’s just a box of samples that come out every season and can be automatically shipped to you.  It only cost $5.00 total per box so it’s a fun beauty box that doesn’t break the bank.

This is what I received in the Winter Box for 2015/2016.  I like these boxes because you can end up with a decent amount of the sample/travel sized items – I’ve even received coupons for free full size products before (not in this box though).

wbb1. Pure Silk Shaving Gel: So if I’m being honest – i’m one of those people who don’t use a lot of shaving gel – and I coupon and stockpile so I do have a lot of it already but this is the perfect size to take on a trip.

2. Dial Orange Lotion: This smells *AMAZING* – it really really does I’m a fan of fruity smells over the floral ones (those tend to mess with my allergies at times).  If there is ever a great coupon deal on this item I plan on stocking up I like it so much!

3. Neutrogena face wash:  So I like this face wash – I was just super bummed because I had already received the exact same face wash a couple beauty boxes ago.

4. Pantene Hair spray:  I’m a big hair spray user – my hair doesn’t hold a curl to well without a ton of it so I always am excited to try a new hairspray.

5. nspa coconut body butter: I had never heard of this brand before and this body butter was really nice – I was very happy with it.  With it being so cold in the winter I cannot stand my hands feeling dry (and they even crack sometimes – not fun) so this is the perfect size to throw in my purse and use.

6.  Shampoo & Conditioner Sample:  This looks like a fancy brand but I’ve never tried it before so I will have to keep you updated on what I thought of it once I do try it out.

7. Centrum Vitamints:  Honestly I don’t know what to think of a vitamin mint – I just don’t – it doesn’t sound super appealing to me personally but at the same time I’m somewhat intrigued with what it taste like.

8. Goody No slip Hait ties:  These look like some intense hair ties – they have little grippers coming off of them to help with the no-slip aspect of it.

Christmas Items I Always buy on Clearance After Christmas!

January 13, 2016 by comesaveaway@gmail.com

IMG_4564

Hello Everyone!

Holiday Clearance finds are nothing short of amazing in my book – plus they can end up saving you a ton of money for the following year.  I always get excited for after Christmas Clearance – it’s just as exciting as Christmas in my book!

I am one of those people who will show up at the store on the 26th of December right when they open.  Even this year – when I was pretty much ready do deliver any day – I was lumbering around the isles determined not to miss the good deals!

Obviously you don’t want to get sucked into the hype too much (trust me – it’s easy) however there is something to be said about paying half price (or less) for Holiday decorations and items you know you will use the following year.

So what are the items I Always buy After Christmas? Well here they are…

1. Christmas Lights: Ok I know this blog is mostly focused on saving money – that’s because I honestly think I end up with some sort of ‘savings high’ when I am able to find a good deal (I call it the coupon high when I am couponing) – but in all honesty Christmas Lights are expensive at full price!! Seriously! I would NEVER pay full price for a strand of lights.  These have been on my list to get the last couple years while my Husband and I made the switch to the more efficient light strands.  Plus this year we decided to buy enough to completely deck out the house for our Baby Girls first Christmas next year.  If you need new lights – this is something to put on your after Christmas list for next year!

2. Wrapping Paper (or Christmas Bags):  You know you will need wrapping paper or some sort of bag every year to put your presents in.  It is never a surprise that you will need these items.  This is why every year – after Christmas – I go to the store and grab wrapping paper for the next year.  This year was especially fun for me because I was able to pick out little girl wrapping paper for next year (which consisted mostly of the crew from Frozen as well as some adorably over sized penguins).

3. Ribbons:  This goes hand in hand with wrapping paper and bags – if you want to decorate your presents you will need some ribbons!

4. Stockings:  I was on a mission to find a “My First Christmas” Stocking this year – and I did – and I only paid half price! If you are a family who has a tradition of getting new stockings every year – after Christmas is the perfect time to buy them – they are flat and easy to store so you won’t have to worry about it taking up too much room.

5. Baking Molds, Cake Pans, & Cookie Cutters:  This was on my list this year simply because I do not have any Christmas themed items like this and with our family growing I thought it was time to step up my ‘Mom Game’ and get some of these items!

6. Ornaments:  This is perfect if you literally have no ornaments – or you know you will want to get some – or you want to change the look of your tree next year.  Ornaments can be expensive – I know the year before I was married I made sure to pick up ornaments and a Christmas Tree After Christmas for when I was married (we didn’t move in together before we were married so neither of us had any Christmas decorations aside from a few little random items from College).

I also have this thing – I’ve slowly been collecting random little ornaments once the sales hit 90% off.  This is because when my sister and I were little my mom had a little tree that we both were able to decorate – and we always had these random ornaments to do it with.  So when the 90% off signs roll around I pick up the ornaments (that I like) that are left and end up only paying about $0.10 -$0.50 a piece for them.  Once my kids are old enough – these will be the ornaments they get to use to decorate their little tree just like my sister and I did.

7.  Decorations:  I am a sucker for Christmas decorations . . . I just am.  I’ve slowly been accumulating decorations over the years and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.  A couple years ago I was able to get an adorable light up bird house with two little chubby birds in it.  This year I picked up a Holiday moose – I know it sounds silly but I saw it in the store and fell in love.  Last year – for some unknown reason – Meijer ended up with a TON of lighted garland that somehow (I still have no idea how) lasted until it was only $1.50 a piece.  I mean a ton of it! My sister and I were at the store and we called our mom to let her know because we both planned on getting a lot of it and wanted to know if she wanted some as well (of course she did).  So we started picking it up by the piles and now all of us have enough to decorate our stair banisters and then some!

A photo posted by Come Save Away (@comesaveaway) on Jan 4, 2015 at 10:09am PST

8. Items that have coupons: So I’m sure many of you are like – what kind of Christmas items have coupons? Well basically food and household items.  For instance Glade and Febreeze often times have holiday themed scents – that you can buy after Christmas at 50% off – and use with a current coupon that is floating around (sometimes the apps that pay you even have rebates back – only upping the savings you can get.  Food items – like Betty Crocker candycane twist cookies, or cake mixes, or M&M’s with a Christmas theme – you get the idea.  These items often times have coupons that you can pair with them to drop the price even more!

Obviously anything you think you may need for the next year is what you would want to pick up but those are my top items.  I know this year I was on the lookout for “my first Christmas” outfits and bibs and basically anything baby in preparation for next year (because why pay full price?!).  I did this for Halloween and Thanksgiving as well.  Remember that the Holiday Clearance is after every holiday – I know I happened to feature Christmas in this post but in all honesty it can be Valentines Day, Easter, basically any Holiday (except New years – it doesn’t really work to well for new years for obvious reasons!)

I would highly recommend this tactic for any new moms & dads to be out there because let’s be honest baby items and clothes are expensive to begin with – and you know your going to splurge and buy them for their first Holidays!

What are some of your after holiday Must Buys?

Apps That Pay You – Yaarlo!

November 10, 2015 by comesaveaway@gmail.com

Yaarlo

Hello Everyone!

I have another GREAT app for you that I literally only just discovered last week! I like it so much I had to move some of the other apps I had planned on covering to a later post!

So this new app is Yaarlo – and I haven’t been using it long enough to get a cash out but I have been using it long enough to know that it is already an app that will be used every week for me! You can sign up for Yaarlo by downloading the app – Use code “Kristen151” to receive a 100 point bonus at sign up (which is $1.00).

The premise of this app is the same as Receipt Pal and Receipt Hog (which means if you are already using these apps you will want to download this one!)  So you snap a photo of your receipts that have (this includes Retail Stores, Grocery Stores, Restaurants (Local, Chain and Fast food), Gas, Wholesale Clubs, Entertainment, and Personal Services – taken straight from their FAQ section!).  Once you snap a picture and upload the receipt it will be “pending” once it’s approved you will get  about 1% back in your account (depending on the category of your receipt) at least that seems to be how my receipts are currently equaling out at.

IMG_9260

They even let you upload e-receipts so be sure to upload those if you online shop a lot! You have to have a minimum of $20 to cash out via Paypal but only a minimum of $10 to cash out with a gift card (and you can get Target or Amazon gift cards if you want just to name a couple options you have).

So why should you be using this app? because they are giving you free money to upload a picture of your receipt – it really doesn’t get much easier than that – you don’t have to purchase anything to get a rebate – you don’t have to answer surveys – you simply take a photo of the receipt and submit it.  Plus if you are using the other two receipts apps its like you get to triple dip in the rewards!

You can also get rewards for other things like ordering food and what not but I have not tried out that feature so I can’t speak to its usefulness.

You can sign up for Yaarlo by downloading the app – Use code “Kristen151” to receive a 100 point bonus at sign up (which is $1.00).

Apps That Pat You – Receipt Pal!

this post may contain affiliate links, read full disclosure.

apps that pay you receipt pal

Hello Everyone!

So I have an awsome new app that I literally use every time I buy anything – this is Receipt Pal.

This app works a lot like Receipt Hog – with the BIG difference being that you can submit any receipt to this app (short of doctor’s bills) plus you can also submit your digital recipes/online orders.  This means my Julep subscriptions get’s submitted to this app, my gas receipts, shopping receipts, and even restaurants receipts.

How this app works is you earn “cards” – each card contains 4 receipt’s. Once you fill up a ‘card’ you earn 100 points.

apps that pay you receipt pal

Your point total will be in the top right hand corner (as you can see mine is currently 3,650 points).  All you do is simply click on one of the camera icons in one of the boxes on the card and snap a picture of the receipt.  The only thing is you have to capture the entire receipt in the picture because there isn’t a multiple picture option.  I have submitted receipts before that I had to set on the ground, stand up, and hold the phone at shoulder level to get the entire receipt in frame – I’ve never had any issues with this type of picture not being accepted.

You only get so many ‘cards’ to fill up per week (I think it’s 5) and then you can enter the ‘sweepstakes’ for each receipt submission past that.  I do a lot of couponing and often times end up with a lot of receipts – so I always fill up my cards each week.  This prompted me to start my husband on this app.

If you look right next to the total point value accumulated you will see Rewards.  This is where you will redeem your points for gift cards (actually e-gift cards).  Obviously the longer you save your points the more bang for your buck you will receive – also it seems to be cheaper to save for an amazon gift card over any other gift card with the same value (if you just click on the regular gift cards you will see that you can choose from many stores like Best Buy, Walmart, Bass Pro Shop and more).  I’ve never actually redeemed from the regular gift card because I prefer to get amazon ones.

So I love this app because it doesn’t require you to purchase a specific item to obtain a rebate and it is isn’t limited to grocery stores.  It literally will add up points on the things you’re already buying and you can then cash those points in for gift cards.  Plus if you use Receipt Hog it’s almost like a double dip with each receipt!

Ringing In the New Year!

December 31, 2014 by comesaveaway@gmail.com

IMG_5281

Hello Everyone!

I cannot believe that this year is almost over! I honestly can’t seem to wrap my head around it.  This has certainly been a hectic year for me – but I have BIG plans for next year.  There have been some highs and lows, trials and tribulations – you know the usual ‘life’ stuff  :)  and I was only able to get where I am today thanks to the grace of God.  My parents have a bible verse set in stone on the side of their house that says “For with God nothing shall be impossible” Luke 1:37

This is the verse I always look to for encouragement, hope and peace.  These words have been true this past year and I know they will continue to ring true this upcoming year.

With that said I wanted to say thank you to all of you who take the time to read my blog – I know lately with the Holidays and my Graduation I have not had the time I wanted to devote to posting here – So thank you for sticking it out with me! There would be no Come Save Away without all of you.  I hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year Celebration tonight!

To give everyone a peak into what I had been up to these past few weeks I have some pictures to show you.  Most of them are my dogs (and my parents and sister’s dog) I will admit – what can I say I am a crazy dog lady at heart!

Apps That Pay You – Receipt Hog

Apps That Pay You - Receipt Hog - From Come Save Away - LOVE this Series!

Hello, Hope Everyone had a nice weekend! If you have missed any part of the Apps that pay you series be sure to catch up here – it will end up saving you a lot of money!

So this apps that pay you is all about the app Receipt Hog.

This is such a simple app!

First you have to sign up Here.

Apps That Pay You - Receipt Hog - From Come Save Away - LOVE this Series!

Your Home Screen will look like the picture above.

How this app works is you use the “camera” tab (in the middle on the bottom) to take photos of your receipts.  Each receipt will earn you “coins” or a “Hog Slots Spin”

If you want to see if you have Hog Slot Spins click on the slot machine in the top left corner of the screen.

Apps That Pay You - Receipt Hog - From Come Save Away - LOVE this Series!

Above is the Hog Slots.  When you have spins you can pull the lever on the side and you have a chance to win coins, money, or even your last shopping trip.

Once you reach 1,000 “coins” you can cash them in for $5.00 put into your paypal (or an amazon card) like the picture below.

Apps That Pay You - Receipt Hog - From Come Save Away - LOVE this Series!

The more coins you have the chubbier the little piggy bank gets – It’s actually quite cute. Also, if you click on the piggy he will oink – this entertains a lot of kids I know  :)

I LOVE this app – because you can go shopping with your coupons and then come home and submit the receipt to this app and earn your way towards more money!

As you can see from the pictures above I’ve been trying this app out for over 5 weeks and I like it so much that I had to include it in this series.  Once you submit 5 weeks in a row you hit “hog wild” status.  This will earn you more Hog Slots Spins with each receipt that qualifies for them.

The only down fall I have noticed with this app is that it only allows you to submit 3 receipts from the same store on the same day.  So when I go out shopping for the Roll With Me series and I have more than 3 transaction at the same store I am only able to submit 3 receipts for that store with the same transaction date.  So what I always do is choose the 3 most expensive ones to submit to the app so I get the most coins/spins possible.

As for the type of stores you can submit receipts from – I have submitted receipts from everywhere (even pet-smart) and so far No receipt has been rejected yet. So I say Submit them All!  :)

So every time you get back from your couponing trips be sure to submit your receipts to increase your savings even more!
