I am back with another great way to help you save money throughout the year. This one is so simple to do too – all you have to do is pack a lunch! So if you were anything like my family was – it was always quick and easy to just grab something for lunch. However, this became costly quickly and it ended up being one of the things that we cut from our budget.
First off it is just healthier to pack your own lunch rather grab some fast food – and the “healthier” fast food (like Panera or other places that are somewhat fast but not McDonalds) is always more expensive.
I know this sounds super simple but if just one person in your household grabs a lunch rather than packs it once a week (even if it’s at a place like McDonalds) you’re likely spending anywhere between $4-$9 a meal. That’s $208-$468 a year for just one person to grab lunch just once a week in your family. Those quick little trips add up fast!
Plus if you shop the sales or even at a local farmers market (when in season – depending on where you live) you can amplify that savings quite a bit – not to mention packing a lunch always helps you get through the leftovers you have from dinners throughout the week. I know when I go out shopping – even for fresh fruit and the like – I am able to save a lot of money by using Coupons, Apps that Pay You, and simply paying attention to the sales that week.
If you cut out grabbing a lunch just once a week you will save yourself and your family at least $208 for the year – and that’s the low end. If you eat out more often or at more expensive places you will save a ton more!
